Information for 1st Swim Meet - Please Read

    Parents of Mill Glen Marlins:

Our 1st meet is quickly coming up on May 25th against the In-Town Dolphins. Ann Marie and I, along with the coaches are looking forward to cheering on our Mill Glen Marlins on Tuesday.

First off, we apologize in advance for the length of this email as we have a bunch of things to go over before the first meet and want to make sure you have all necessary information.

    Monday Practice

We will have practice on Monday afternoon. If you can, please plan to have your child at their designated practice time so that we can write their events on their arm following practice. Once practices move to mornings the following week, we will write their events on their arm the morning of the swim meet. If for any reason you cannot make it to practice - that is totally fine. We will have parents available the evening of the swim meet to help the children with their events.

    Swim Meet

Mill Glen swimmers...warm-ups will begin at 5pm on Tuesday, May 25th. Please plan to arrive a few minutes beforehand to ensure your child has their events written down on their arms if they weren’t able to attend practice on Monday, to also make sure they’ve found their age group bullpen and also have enough time to warm-up. Intown Dolphins will be warming-up at 5:30pm.

The swim meet will begin promptly at 6pm. Please be sure to relay to your kids that there will be bullpen parents that will make sure they are lined up properly (especially with the younger ones), but it is your child’s responsibility and yours to make sure they are in their bullpen around the time of them swimming as we will not be able to look for them and do not want anyone to miss their events.

As a courtesy to the visiting swim team we will leave the Mill Glen parking lot open for them to park in for the swim meet. You are more than welcome to drop off in front of the pool, but please leave any parking spots for the visiting swim team. They will do the same for us when we have away meets. You can park along the street on Mill Trace Drive or plan to walk if you are close.

Adults are required to wear a mask when inside the pool gates. Children are not required to wear a mask.

Ann Marie and I are so appreciative to everyone for volunteering this upcoming swim season. To help swim meets run smoothly, we ask that you access the Mill Glen Swimtopia site prior to the swim meet to see what volunteer positions you and your family members have signed up for so that you can be in your designated area at the correct time. If for some reason you cannot volunteer for whatever reason, please be sure to reach out to the volunteer coordinators ahead of time so that you can switch shifts if need be.

For Tuesday’s swim meet, we are still in need of a 1st shift Deck Manager and 1st Shift Griller. If you are available to help, please consider signing up.

I have linked the swimtopia website below. Again, if you have any questions regarding volunteering, please feel free to reach out to our volunteer coordinators, Leslie Eisenstat (ldeisenstat@gmail.com) and Sherri Mattison (sherimattison@bellsouth.net) .

Our concession coordinators, Teresa Acosta and Madalena Soares, have a great new set up that we think will be a huge hit this swim season. Make it easy on swim meet nights and plan to grab dinner at our concession stand located at the pool gazebo. We’ll be grilling up hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, salads, chips, candy, soda, waters etc. will be available for purchase.

We will accept cash payments along with cashless payments this year as well!

With that being said, we do have a few slots left for people to contribute food for our upcoming meet. Please consider helping by signing up to bring something to sell at the concession stand. By providing items, costs are cut and profits directly benefit the team. Link provided below.

    Housekeeping Items

In order to make sure our swim club remains a clean and inviting place to visit, please help in keeping it clean by picking up your trash and ask that your children do the same. It helps at the end of the meet with regards to cleaning up and again keeping our swim club looking its best.

Finally, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all your help this swim season, we have a great group of kids swimming this year and think it’s going to be a great swim season!

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.

    Go Marlins!

    Julie and Ann Marie
